Their next major studio success was their 2016 Wings album, which went on to win Album of the Year at the Melon Music Awards in Korea. That same year, BTS won Artist of the Year at the MNET Music Awards Its corresponding tour that had locations in the United States as well as Asian countries, which drew in fans from the West. As BTS continued to gain fans internationally, they premiered their Love Yourself series in 2017. Out of the three albums under that series, Love Yourself: Tear was the most commerically successful, as its featured track charted internationally both on the U.S. Billboard and UK Albums Chart. At the end of their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself world tour in 2019, BTS announced a new tour as well as a new album they were working on. Though Map of the Soul: Persona (2019) and 7 (2020) did well on domestic and international music charts, its corresponding tour was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Promotion for both Map of the Soul titles were moved to online platforms.

In the mist of this pandemic, BTS also released a single, Dynamite, that hit No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100, making BTS the first South Korea act to do so. BTS are currently working on a new album titled BE. This album is highly anticipated as it is their first album that will be entirely self-produced, from the songs to the music videos to the concept photos!

In addition to their spectacular music career, all the members of BTS, as well as the group collectively, are known for their cultural and philantropic work. In addition to contributing to many independent charities and initiatives based in South Korea, BTS parted with UNICEF in 2017 to combat violence towards childrens and teens. They have also spoken at two United Nations assemblies. In 2018, each member of BTS was acknowledged by the President of South Korea and awarded with the Order of Cultural Merit, making them the youngest recipients honored. Earlier this year, in response to the racial justice protests in the United States following the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, BTS donated $1,000,000 to the Black Lives Matter organization. The group has also contributed to COVID-19 relief efforts in South Korea in the wake of the pandemic.
